Rocío Cardoso (Montevideo, Uruguay, 1955). Poet, writer of children’s literature and cultural promoter. President of International Literature Congress in Uruguay. She was director of the publishing company Ediciones Botella al Mar for 15 years. Acknowledgements: Cultural Distinction, First International Week of Children’s and Young People’s Literature, (Peru, 2019); Third Prize, Dr. Alberto Manini Ríos Literary Contest, for the children’s tale Mi perro en zapatilla (Uruguay, 2019); Incentive Prize, Maldonado City Hall, for Escondida detrás de su sombrero on gender violence (Uruguay, 2018); Second Prize, Dr. Antonio Manini Ríos Literary Contest, for La clandestinidad de las ventanas (Uruguay, 2018); International Great Women Award (Argentina, 2017) for commitment in defense of women, granted by the World Federation for Ladies Grand Masters (WFLGM); Distinction for literary and cultural career in Peru and Latin America and work with children, Pan American Round Table of Barranco (Peru, 2016); Morosoli Institutional Award to Uruguayan culture through international meetings, granted by the Lolita Ruibal Foundation (Uruguay, 2015); Alfonsina Storni 2014 Distinction for Mujer dibujada de silencios in commitment to the defense of women’s rights, Latin American Women’s Forum (2014); Oreste Plath Medal of Merit, Chilean Academy of Children’s and Young People’s Literature (Chile, 2010); Artigas Distinction to Uruguayan Women, Eastern Cultural Association (Uruguay, 2003).
