Joel Saracho wears multiple, if related, hats. As an activist, he is president of Tbak, a community of radicals who were at the forefront of the anti-dictatorship struggle. He is currently active in various advocacies, particularly in the field of culture and the arts. As a cultural worker, he conducts workshops for youth and children, and formed the performing group Bagong Dugo that does political satire and comic sketches. As an actor, he is into theater, television, and films. He is currently vice president of the Philippine Theater Actors Guild. For rent money and to pay his bills, Joel introduces himself as a communications specialist and consultant—something he learned (and earned) in his more than 20 years stint as print and broadcast journalist.
