Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu is a Zimbabwean writer, scholar, and filmmaker. Her debut novel, The Theory of Flight, was published by Penguin Random House (SA) in 2018 and won the 2019 Sunday Times Barry Ronge Fiction Prize. Her second novel, The History of Man, will also be published by Penguin Random House (SA) and will be available in July 2020. Siphiwe is a recipient of a 2018 Morland Writing Scholarship, which she used to work on her third manuscript, The Quality of Mercy.
She holds a PhD in Modern Thought and Literature from Stanford University. Her essay, ‘“Body’ of Evidence: Saartjie Baartman and the Archive”, was published in Representation and Black Womanhood: The Legacy of Sarah Baartman by Palgrave-MacMillan. She has an MA in African Studies and an MFA in Film from Ohio University. Her short film, Graffiti, won several awards including the Silver Dhow at the Zanzibar International Film Festival. She received her BFA in Writing, Literature and Publishing from Emerson College.
