Leonardo Padura (Havana, Cuba, 1955). Novelist, essayist, journalist, screenwriter. Degree in philology from the University of Havana. Author of more than thirty titles, with translations into twenty-five languages. Creator of the series of police novels starring the character of Mario Conde. His series of four novels The Four Seasons was brought to the cinema and broadcasted on the Netflix platform, and awarded the 2016 Planito Award for the best Spanish-speaking miniseries. He is also author of other novels, including The Man Who Loved Dogs (2009) and The Novel of My Life (2001). Among other awards and recognitions he has won the National Prize for Literature of Cuba (2012), The Princess of Asturias Prize of Letters (2015) and the Knight Order of Letters, France (2010). Since 1995 he works as an independent writer. Leonardo lives and writes in Cuba.
