José Zuleta Ortiz (Bogotá, Colombia, 1960). Founder of the poetry magazine Clave. Founder and coordinator of the program Libertad bajo Palabra (Liberty under Parole)–creative writing workshops promoted by the Colombian Ministry of Culture, which have published 12 anthologies of works written by interns in 21 jails in the country, titled Fugas de Tinta (Ink Leaks). He has won several national poetry and short story awards: the National Poetry Award “Carlos Héctor Trejos” (2002) for the book Las Alas del Súbdito, the National Poetry Award “Descanse en Paz la Guerra” for the work Música para desplazados de la Casa de Poesía Silva (2003), the National Literature Award from the Ministry of Culture (2009) for his short story book Ladrón de olvidos and the National Literature Award from the Ministry of Culture for the short story book Esperando tus ojos (2011). Other publications: La línea de menta (2005), Mirar otro mar (2006), La sonrisa trocada (2008), Emprender la noche (2008), Las manos de la noche (2009), Todos somos amigos de lo ajeno (2010) La oración de Manuel y otros relatos (2012), La mirada del huésped (2013), La espiral del alambique (2014), Las pequeñas causas (2016), Retratos (2017), La tarde del petirrojo (2018). His stories and poems have been translated into French, English, Portuguese, Italian and Dutch. José was Director of the International Poetry Festival in Cali during the period 2005-2015.
