Hermie Beltran is the director of the Cultural Center of the Philippines Intertextual (formerly Literary Arts) Division and the editor-in-chief of ANI literary journal. He received the Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas in 2011 from the UMPIL (Unyon Ng Mga Manunulat Sa Pilipinas)and the Gawad Alab ng Haraya from the National Commission for Culture and the Artsin 2002. He is the author of two trilingual books of poetry: Lemlunay, published by the University of the Philippines Press in 2003, and Bayambang, published by Kalikasan Press in 1991. He has won awards for his poems, plays, and essays in the Talaang Ginto, Palihang Aurelio Tolentino, and Carlos Palanca competitions. He was chairman of the NCCA National Committee on Literary Arts from 2001 to 2004. He has served as a member of the jury in many literary contests and has represented the country in various national and international writers’ conferences.
