Edwin Madrid (Quito, Ecuador, 1961). Poet, editor, essayist. Director of the Writer’s Workshop of the House of Ecuadorian Culture. His poetry has been included in several anthologies: Pararrayos (Spain, 2012), Mordiendo el frío y otros poemas (Ecuador, 2009 and Cuba, 2010) and La búsqueda incesante (Mexico, 2006). In 2004 he received the Casa de América Award for American Poetry; he also won the Unique Poetry Prize of the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador 2013, the Ecuadorian Writers Award of the 90s in 2016, among others. Some of his books have been translated into Arabic, English, Portuguese, German, French, and Italian. Edwin has been invited by the universities of Cincinnati, Zurich, Vienna, Granada and National of Colombia. He compiled the Anthology: La poesía del siglo XX en Ecuador (Spain, 2007,) and the Línea Imaginaria: Antología de la poesía ecuatoriana (Chile, 2016). He directs in Quito the publishing house Ediciones de la Línea Imaginaria. In 2011 he was a resident writer at the Maison des Écrivains Étrangers et des Traducteurs in Saint-Nazaire, France.
