Dr. Michael Tan is the Chancellor of the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Tan is a medical anthropologist, a columnist for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, a professor of anthropology and former dean of the College of Social Science and Philosophy. Tan received his PhD in Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam in The Netherlands and his MA, also in anthropology, at the Texas A&M University in the United States. He also has a degree in veterinary medicine from the University of the Philippines.
